( TET 002) Excursion to Adadi, Melka Kunture, Tiya & Lake Ara Shetan

A day driving excursion to explore Adadi Mariam, Melka Kunture and Tiya stele field and Lake Ara Shetan lie to the west on Butajira Hosaina road.
Adadi Mariam a monolithic rock hewn church believed to have been curved in the 13th c.


Melka kunture located at 60 km southwest of Addis Ababa is a famous archaeological site where fossils of pre historic age & stone tools dating 1.5 million years have been discovered.


Tiya stelea field:  Listed as a world heritage site the stelea comprise some 45 stones of up to 2m in height.
Recent excavations at Tiya revealed that the stone mark the mass graves of males and females who died when they were young.


Lake Ara Shetan: Stands alongside the Hosaina road at an elevation of 2281m some 10km south of Butajira.
