Community Tourism around Dodola- Adaba destinations
Dodola and Adaba towns on the road to Bale became important with the recent opening of an elaborate network of mountain huts and hiking and trekking trails through the forested mountain to the south of these towns. Part of an integrated forest management project (IFMP) and backed with German funding and expertise this organized set up is considerable significance to the conservation of the fauna and flora of some of the country’s most extensive remaining montane forest and moorland habitat.
It is one of our recommended trekking options for keen hikers and trekkers interested to explore the scenic trails, flora and fauna.

This Eco-tourism destination offers guided tours on horseback or by foot through the beautiful Bale Mountains in Ethiopia. Treks range from 5 to 18 km per day and generally take between2 to 6 hours at a comfortable but steady pace. Trekkers will travel through varied forest and mountain scenery ranging from 2,400 to 3,500 meters above sea level. We recommend you to take horses in case you tire as climbing can be exhausting. No prior riding experience is required. Accommodation and camping facilities are available at 4 camping sites and each site has its own charm and characteristic scenery. Touch Ethiopia tours provide tents, Bed sheets, sleeping bags, blankets, towels, kerosene lamps, basic kitchenware and cooking facilities, a hot shower and a flush toilet are available at each site. Trekking is best during the dry season between October and May. A hat and sun block are recommended. Warm, comfortable clothing, good trekking shoes and rain gear are also advisable. The area is malaria free. The starting point for the tour is Dodola.
The varied forest formations are the main attraction of the area. Details about the species we will provide you a small booklet that illustrates the flora along the trek. There is a large diversity of wild animals in the forest. However, spotting wildlife is not guaranteed. Nevertheless, with some luck you may see Menelik’s Bushbuck, the famous mountain Nyala or the Ethiopian wolf. The diversity of birds, among them many endemic species, is equally large. You can see wattled ibis, thick-billed raven, yellow-fronted parrot, Abyssinian long claw and lammergeyer, just to mention a few.  See itinerary under trekking
