Maryam Zion        

Falls around the end of November and is mainly celebrated in Axum. It celebrates the namesake of the famous church of St.Maryam of Zion. The Tabot of the church (believed by Ethiopians to be the original Ark of the Covenant) is brought out and there is much singing and dancing.

Kulubi Gabriel Falls on 28 December during which tens of thousands of pilgrims converge each year on the church of St.Gabriel on the hill above the small town of Kulubi in the eastern part of the country near Dire Dawa and Harar. Pilgrims come to express thanks after the fulfillment of a wish or in the hope of a miraculous cure.
